One Month!

15 Oct

The stats: Baby is in size 1 diapers and 0-3 month clothing. He’s too long for newborn sizes 🙂

Nicknames: muffin, Milk Monster, zayets/bunny, Nikitusha, crazy eyes

Temperament: Fussy, fussy, fussy. And observant, happy, excited. He started to smile on his one-month birthday!!

Things I Could Do Without: The spitting-up, the fussing, the constant eating. I know he’s growing, but that’s a double-edged sword. He’s eating all the time, but then he burps it up (i.e. projectile barfs it) and then he’s hungry again.  He really likes us to be nearby–if he’s awake, we have to be right next to him rocking him. It’s a constant cycle of food-spit-diapers.

Item/Toy We All Love The Most: A few ‘carseat’ rattles that we’ve put on a mobile on his crib–the frog has a pullstring that buzzes and little balls in his belly bounce.  There’s a tiger and an elephant with bells in them. They calm him immediately.

Things I’m Loving Most Right Now: Your smiles! You first smiled for dad last night — he was holding your head in his hand and you looked him in the eyes and smiled. And smiled again.  Today, I got a big smile and we both got several smiles when you were listening to music.  Your smile and your big eyes – oh! So sweet 🙂

Things You’re Loving Most Right Now: Naked time!  It’s good to air out your bottom and give you time to stretch your body.  We put you in your pack and play with your hanging rattles and you coo and stretch and play. It’s so fun to watch you!!

You really have turned from a newborn into a roly-poly baby. You’re still long, but your cheeks and arms and belly are getting so cute and fat! You’re awake longer during the day and have more time to just look and see what we’re doing. Your eyes follow both mom and dad thru the apartment. You’re now smiling!  Sure, you’re fussy, but it’s easy to forget when you are calm and cute and we get to hang out!! You’re our little guy and we can’t imagine life without you!!

I totally understand the extremes dislike of spit up. My son, who is now 10 months old, was a very spotty baby. Still is at times.

Totally meant spitty, not spotty. Darn auto correct!

Don’t say that!! 9 more months of eat-spit-fuss-eat? Might go crazy! Good thing the smiles are worth it!!

It definitely is worth it. But yes, He is still spitty. I have come to love wood floors! Very easy to clean!
