The ‘side effects’ of having a new baby not only include a lack of sleep, unbalanced hormones, and a literal pain in the a$$, but can also include wrist/thumb pain. I mentioned it at my 2-week appt with the midwives, and my awesome Midwife said it is likely de Quervain syndrome, an inflammation of the tendons in the thumb/wrist that comes from all the holding & manipulating of little babies you do (holding the neck, squeezing the breast to feed, moving the head to latch…) So now I’ve got to splint my wrist & hope it doesn’t get worse:
