Bumpdate: 13 Weeks

Due Date: Early September 2011. 27-ish weeks to go!

Weight Gain: no idea. I’ve got a round belly but it isn’t because of baby 😦

Symptoms: Skin still sucks and I’m turning into a fatty-my belly is getting rounder and pudgier, but not because of a baby, but because of all the water weight my body is shifting to my middle. My jeans fit looser in the legs but just won’t button (and haven’t for weeks). I haven’t started wearing anything maternity, yet, but probably soon!

Cravings/Aversions: Nothing specific–but the blueberries I picked up tonight are amazing!

Sleep: Just fine 🙂 Especially since I’ve been going to sleep around 8/9pm–no wonder I’m not getting anything done!!

I am loving: We got to see our little bear today – we had our first ultrasound!  Since I’m giving birth at a university hospital, I’ve been asked to participate in a number of studies.  I agreed to do two of them: 1) a study of chemicals and their effect on baby development (esp reproductive system) and 2) a fetal growth study.  For the second, I get 5-ish ultrasounds where they’ll check in & chart baby’s growth.  It is just amazing to see him/her already so big and so human at this stage!!

I miss: My normal life. I start counting the hours ’till bed from about 6pm-on (usually from my bed). Evenings are kind of painful. . .I can’t function but I feel guilty for not doing anything.

I am looking forward to: the end of the quarter

I’m freaking out about: the end of the quarter! I’m so behind. . but I have no energy/motivation to actually do anything. I can’t wait to actually some how get it all done.

Best moment this week: Seeing baby’s beautiful body – 2 little arms, to little legs, a healthy body.  Baby was so sweet–stubbornly wouldn’t move around when the ultrasound tech jostled my belly. (S)he just dug in deeper–face and feet to my spine, carefully curled in fetal position.

Milestones: My baby is the size of a peach! It has a fluttering heart and a beautiful face!

Movement: None yet

It’s a…: baby? In 7 weeks we’ll be scheduling the anatomy scan when we should find out.

Exercise: Trying to stay active which is pretty easy–running from one end of campus to the other for class, meetings, etc. Also trying to take walks with hubs on the weekend.

Diet: Same – yogurt. blueberries. Trying to keep making better choices – organic when it is reasonable, fresh when we can. Made lunches (egg sandwiches) 2 days this week.  Between a busy schedule and no energy, I do what I can when I can to make good choices.

Goals for the upcoming week: Get on top of school work, grading, etc.

Bumpdate: 12 weeks

Bumpdate: 12 Weeks

Due Date: Early September 2011. 28 weeks to go!

Weight Gain: I’m guessing I’m up about 4 pounds. -1 from last week.

Symptoms: Terrible skin! The bloat still comes and goes, but the #1 symptom this week are breakouts, breakouts, breakouts! I really need to change something in my skincare regimen, but I don’t know what.

Cravings/Aversions: Nothing specific. I’m trying to drink a lot of water all day and stay healthy.

Sleep: Great – deep sleep & lot’s of it. When I don’t get enough, I get cranky and that’s bad.

I am loving: I heard baby’s heartbeat this week!! It was great–I described it to Sasha as a “butterfly”-the fastest little flutter. So great! And it makes it real–there really is something growing in there.

I miss: Nothing stands out this week. I’d say energy, but it is beginning to come back this week, so most of my feelings are toward the future.

I am looking forward to: An ultrasound next week! I’m working with a research study and they’ll be doing 5 ultrasounds to check fetal growth. The study is following 5,000 babies globally (in the womb) and will attempt to re-draw fetal growth charts to make them more accurate.  I’m just excited to see inside my belly 🙂

I’m freaking out about: Nothing at the moment–except school! I have a ton to get done and a ton of grading to do.

Best moment this week: Heartbeat ❤

Milestones: My baby is the size of a plum! It has a fluttering heart! Every week is a new milestone for a 1st pregnancy.

Movement: None yet

It’s a…: baby? In 8 weeks we’ll be scheduling the anatomy scan when we should find out.

Exercise: I walk on campus a lot? We did go for a nice walk at a local park – but it is cold and windy so it is hard to get out for too long.

Diet: Same – limit crap food, make better choices. I’ve noticed I’m pretty much back to normal eating–I don’t have to eat every 2 hours or I’ll die.

Goals for the upcoming week: Get on top of school work, grading, etc.

Belly Shot: None this week…but I’ll take one soon–as soon as my teeny-tiny belly gets a little more visible

Bumpdate: 11 weeks

Bumpdate: 11 Weeks

Due Date: Early September 2011. 29 weeks to go!

Weight Gain: Still haven’t gotten a scale. The ever-changing scales at different doctor’s offices indicate that I’ve gained a couple pounds. Midwife says not to worry, so I’m not 🙂

Symptoms: Almost none – I had a cold this week and in comparison to the exhaustion I’ve been feeling, it’s like a breath of fresh air.  Now that it’s fading, I seem to be getting my energy–and my sense of smell–back. The bloat is settling into a nice round belly, I’m beginning to notice the first signs of a small bump, and the pregnancy symptoms are fading. Good, I hope 🙂

Cravings/Aversions: two weeks ago it was steak. Yum! This past weekend we had the.best.pho.on.the.planet!! I remembered that it was a good cure for a cold and it was ah-mazing!!

Sleep: Apparently with my cold I’ve been tossing and turning and waking myself up with coughing. I’ve been so unsettled the crazy preg-o dreams faded. Now I’m just happy to get a good night’s sleep 🙂

I am loving: Valentine’s day! We had a good weekend and a good day. Happy Love! Happy Family!

I miss: alcohol. I don’t drink much, but I miss being able to have a drink when I want it. We had Mexican a few days ago and I stole a sip of beer just for the taste!

I am looking forward to: I have a follow-up appointment with the midwife Thursday to hear the heartbeat. It seems I have a tipped uterus which made hearing the little one’s heart difficult last week. She said listening with another week for little one to grow will help. Sasha’s coming & I’m excited 🙂

I’m freaking out about: Nothing really, but I’ll feel better once I’ve heard a heartbeat and I really know someone’s in there.

Best moment this week: Pho! Valentine’s! Good food all weekend!

Milestones: My baby is the size of a lime! Every week is a new milestone for a 1st pregnancy.

Movement: Nope.

It’s a…: baby? I just want to hear something and get real confirmation 🙂

Exercise: I walk on campus a lot? Need to make time for at least a weekly long walk with the hubs.

Diet: Same – limit crap food, make better choices. I’ve noticed I’m pretty much back to normal eating–I don’t have to eat every 2 hours or I’ll die.

Goals for the upcoming week: Remember to take my vitamins, stay healthy, get on top of my work–schoolwork & grading–now that I seem to have some energy back.

Bumpdate: 9 Weeks

Due Date: Early September 2011. 31 weeks to go!

Weight Gain: Not sure, but I do feel fat! Maybe I should pick up a scale??

Symptoms: Bloat! I feel huge and disgusting, although I’m noticably less huge in the mornings. I eat often–every 2-3 hours (if I go longer I feel yucky). A few bits of nausea (usually if I haven’t eaten), infrequent headaches, and deep persistent exhaustion.

Cravings/Aversions: Quodoba Mexican taco salad. Chocolate cake.  The only intese cravings I’ve had. But I do know exactly what I want for dinner every day and won’t waver on it. And water is ah-mazing!

Sleep: Crazy pregnancy dreams. Every couple nights I have a wacky dream. Once it was giving birth. Once I was breastfeeding a toddler.  Always the baby is a boy. According to Ukrainian tradition, if I dream it, it’s not true. And the chinese gender predictor says I’m due for a little girl 🙂

I am loving: the love! telling people slowly our happy news and seeing their joy. Getting used to the idea and getting details settled out.

I miss: wearing jeans without feeling uncomfortable. The bloat makes anything but leggings uncomfortable and this jeans and a sweater girl just doesn’t have enough skirts and dresses to make it thru life without getting boring. Nor do I have a budget for a new wardrobe. So discomfort it is!

I am looking forward to: My first appointment (in 2 weeks-will hear a heartbeat!) and just growing more.

I’m freaking out about: Nothing at the moment. Trying to be chill.

Best moment this week: Time with friends!

Milestones: My baby is the size of an olive! Every week is a new milestone for a 1st pregnancy.

Movement: Nope.

It’s a…: girl? boy? twins? My mom is torturing me with that idea every time I complain about how huge my belly is from bloat. Ugh.

Exercise: I walk on campus a lot? Need to make time for at least a weekly long walk with the hubs.

Diet: I’ve eliminated the total crap (soda, fast food, etc) but occasionally something sneaks in. Subway sandwich or a frozen pizza. We’re trying to keep up our crazy schedules and account for my exhaustion while still eating moderately well.

Goals for the upcoming week: Remember to take my vitamins every day. This is killer. I don’t actually think I’ve missed one, but every day i have to remember if I’ve done it.
